My First Instrument Podcast

“My First Instrument” is the name for an idea I have for a podcast series focusing on music, instruments and gear.

Anyone who plays an instrument I am sure has an interesting story to tell about how they first got into playing; from how they got into music and the transition to playing an instrument. What was the first song they learnt (and the ones we were too eager to learn but failed)? Who we were inspired by and wanted to be like.

The format for the podcast is based around interviews from a wide range of people. I want to be inclusive of genre and level of ability. What was their first instrument and the story behind that choice comparing that against their current set up and what plans they have for future gear. What would their dream instrument be? What part of their life does playing an instrument fit into and if it is seen as more of a hobby or a professional venture they have. What experience did they get from learning and playing as a solo artist, in a band.

The aim of the podcast is for my guests to tell their story and to hopefully provide a bit of an educational and inspiring conversation for those starting out and those further on in their playing abilities and careers.

What sites, resources and techniques do they implement in their own practice, do they follow a strict practice regime or are they more of a casual player? By asking these sorts of questions I want to provide a platform of interest for those from a wide range of backgrounds and abilities.

I am starting to work on planning out ideas for the overall aesthetic of the podcast from creating jingles and promotional material ready for it to be released. However before I can put this into play I am interested in getting the feelers out there for anyone who might be interested in having a chat with me (mobile or in person) to get a set of interviews together which will hopefully formulate “Series 1” of the podcast.

If you would be interested in chatting about music, gear and your history of playing and being involved in music then I would love to organise speaking to you about this topic. If you are producing music, playing in bands, a sound engineer, record label owner anything then I would also love to include conversations about those too.
