Earlier this week I posted the first part of my interview with producer Tony Long. Before the release of part 2 I thought I would put a little bit of bonus footage from the interview talking about influences and who he looks up to in the industry.
Tony is a fountain of musical knowledge, and I think this really comes through in this interview snippet. He talks about Andy Wallace and Tony Visconti and how their diversity and eclectic taste has given him something to aspire to.
I have learnt through my career, especially through my degree (I originally studied music journalism) that to be open to different influences in music is so important to gain a better understanding and gives you a better grounding to discuss issues.
The video was created using a Nikon D3300 DSLR and a 50mm lens. The sound was recorded using a Blue Snowball through Audacity and was editing using Premiere Elements 14.
Shooting footage on a mobile is something that I have not been able to get a grasp of; I prefer the control of a DSLR and the ability to control the settings which is something I think mobile phone videography lacks (specifically with earlier models). This project has been a lot of fun to complete, I teach video production and never feel like I have the opportunity to practice which I teach.
The Snowball is a new piece of kit I bought recently, it was really good to have the opportunity to use it in this situation and really test out what it can do. The overall quality of the microphone is suitable for this type of project and it easy enough to use to in situations like this.
Anyway hope you like the videos and keep your eyes peeled for more in the future.
